Tina Givens was born in Africa and is an artist and fabric designer who injects her art and designs with colorful personality rooted from her cultural background and love of life. She’s an enterprising entrepreneur and mom of three who launched Cid Pear in 2004 in her current hometown of Raleigh, NC, turning her clever design sense into a successful stationery collection. Working in a nontraditional method of detailed, saturated watercolor painting, Tina creates characters and patterns that are aptly transformed into a uniquely appealing product range, from textiles to clothing to gifts. She has sewn her entire life and uses patterns and fabrics she has created for Westminster Fibers to sew items for her home, children and herself. Tina’s eclectic style and sense of color has proven to be an irresistible combination in everything she creates. Her recent book SEW TINA! (Lark Books, 2010) includes delightful apparel and home-dec items for children. Check your local fabric shop for Tina’s fun fabrics and sewing patterns. For more about Tina, visit tinagivens.com.
